The Hub Flags

Goodbye PVC. Hello progress.

For the past four years, we’ve been proud to work as the sustainability branding partners for the Edinburgh International Festival. As part of this ongoing collaboration, we regularly evaluate their print materials to identify opportunities for positive change. One material that stood out as particularly harmful was double-sided PVC.
Used across the city, it’s long been the industry standard for any double-sided lampost banners. However, it’s difficult to recycle and has a damaging impact on the environment. The EIF alone uses 22 of these PVC banners every year.
Together, we set out to change that.
Through collaboration and engagement, we have developed a fully recyclable textile alternative that is just as durable and visually striking as traditional materials, but far more sustainable.
No compromise on quality.
No compromise on visual impact.
This isn’t a one-off solution – it’s a new standard. One we can now offer to every theatre, festival, or event we work with, helping shift the industry away from traditionally harmful materials and toward products that benefit everyone.
This simple change can have a wide-reaching impact, and we are proud to move forward with it as we look to the next environmental challenge.
Keep an eye out for news and developments on this front in the near future.

Underbelly Recycled Boards

Have fun then return.

We believe great branding should be seen, celebrated, and then seen again. That’s why we created Have Fun Then Return, our circular approach to theatre branding. This initiative focuses on sharing resources, reducing waste, and making it easier, while keeping things also more affordable, for theatres and festivals to adopt sustainable practices. From rental frames to repurposed displays, we are building a system where nothing goes to waste and everyone benefits.

Through engagement with all our customers, we have built a community approach to sustainable branding.

Our Have Fun Then Return policy gives theatres and venues access to high-quality branding at affordable prices. Products can be rented, enjoyed, and then returned, ready to be used again by someone else. Think roll-ups, textile frames, or freestanding structures for press nights and one-off events.

But it doesn’t stop there. Through our reclaim and recycling scheme, we also collect used boards and materials from theatres and festivals, finding creative ways to repurpose them. Last year alone, we reclaimed over 200 display boards from arts festivals across the UK. Instead of sending these to the landfill, we worked with our in-house product designer to transform them into innovative new products, such as our Castle Cubes and Puzzle Displays. And this is just the beginning.

The result? Multi-life products, less waste, and a more accessible way for everyone to brand sustainably.

Better for the planet. Easier on your budget. Built to have fun, then return – again and again.
